Artist: Modern Baseball

Release: Holy Ghost
Label: Big Scary Monsters
Genre: Alternative

In just a few short years, Modern Baseball have gone from college freshman self-recording their first record to a worldwide phenomenon. Somehow, it feels like just the beginning. In 2016, Modern Baseball will release their new album Holy Ghost through Run For Cover Records. The first album recorded by someone other than the band themselves, Modern Baseball enlisted Joe Reinhart (Hop Along, Joyce Manor) at Headroom Studios in Philadelphia to help refine their sound. Holy Ghost shows off the band’s sonic growth, adding in new influences ranging from The Killers to Pedro The Lion.

Artist: CHVRCHES
Release: Warning Call
Label: E.A.R.S
Genre: Alternative

CHVRCHES, an electronic trio from Scotland, turned the theme of Mirrror’s Edge Catalyst into an explosive pop tune. Their signature style, juxtaposing the light and the dark, creates their own brand of twisted pop music that uniquely merges the organic with the electronic. Front-woman, Lauren Mayberry, wrote lyrics from the perspective of the game’s heroine, Faith, and perfectly depicts her world, struggles and strength. “Warning Call” is one of the band’s best work to date.

Artist: SKATERS
Release: Rock And Roll Bye Bye
Label: 25 Hour Convenience Store
Genre: Indie Rock

The transatlantic relationship that is the Skaters has brought Rock and Roll Bye Bye to the worlds attention and we should sit up and pay attention. Having garnished the praise of the likes of Annie Mac (radio 1) and Zane Lowe (beats) prior to release – coupled with a Ratboy support tour the future seems bright for the three boys from Boston, LA and Hull, this coupled with the recent affiliation with 25 hour convenience store, the futures bright, the futures Skaters.

Artist: Family Atlantica
Release: Cosmic Unity
Label: Soundway Records
Genre:  World

Award-winning, London-based Family Atlantica are back with their far-reaching 2nd album ‘Cosmic Unity’, which follows on from their 2013 eponymous debut – an album that won the band a range of awards including Songlines Magazine’s Best Newcomers 2015.

‘Cosmic Unity’, like the band itself, mirrors the mixed-up, intercontinental terrain of their home town. Moving through genres as diverse as psychedelic highlife, steel- pan Ethio-funk, calypso, biao and scorching equatorial jazz underpinned by deep afro-Atlantic dance rhythms, they have created a cohesive, forward-looking sound that echoes classic tropical recordings of the past whilst still sounding fresh and contemporary. Lush string and horn arrangements give way to acidic commentary on the immigration system and slavery as well as incantations of unity.
